Our front upper shock mount brings a great look and added strength to the front of the X3.

The front upper shock mount on the X3 is not a true double shear, meaning that the bolt that mounts the shock is not supported on the front and back side. This puts a tremendous amount of force and leverage on the bolt.  The rear supports all the force that the suspension throws at it and its less than ideal.  On hard impacts or front bottom outs it will try to push the factory shock mount up and back, we've seen it several times which is why we created this product.

The brace bolts on top of the frame and is held on with 6 bolts.  (4) bolts on the outside that screw into the tube in the frame and the (2) middle 5/16" bolts pass through a bracket on the top of the frame.  If you have our X3 6 piece gusset kit then the 5/16" bolts tie our gusset kit into the brace to give the maximum amount of strength.  Our sheet metal bracket is made from a heavy gauge grade 50 steel that is very rigid and strong, perfect for bracing and gusseting.  The vertical tubes tie our billet bracket into the top of the frame.  The routing of the radiator hoses and wiring stay the same as it did from the factory.  The hoses and wiring run between the 2 verticle tubes and the front and rear of our bracket are bent so there's no sharp edges for anything to rub on and wear. There is also nothing to restrict airflow behind the radiator. 

Our 6061 billet shock mount was designed to mimic the factory bracket.  We wanted to support the bracket with our brace that runs down to the chassis as far on the outside as possible.  The further out we mounted it, the more control we would have over the leverage of the bracket trying to twist and move.  We knew that the factory 6mm bolts were not going to be up to the task but we wanted to share the same mounting holes in the billet bracket.  So we had some custom bolts made for us.  These are 7/16" grade 8 bolts that are drilled and tapped for 6mm thread.  The upper radiator bolts will now tighten in the head of these 7/16" bolts instead of bolting directly to the bracket.  It gives us a very strong and extrememley clean mounting setup that holds factory dimensions.

The shocks will have to be flipped and the reservoirs will have to be mounted towards the outside like shown.  The XRS hood opening will have to be opened up slightly.
