CT Raceworx MAVERICK R PRO ROCK HIGH CLEARANCE BILLET RADIUS ROD KIT
CT-MAVR-2200-1SKU: CT-MAVR-2200-1
CT Race Worx is leading the way with innovation for the Maverick R with our Pro Rock Radius Rod Kit. Fully adjustable on the car, ultra high clearance radius rods for the Maverick R that are made for people looking for huge ground clearance gains and built for abuse.
Gaining this kind of clearance, and keeping things strong while also keeping parts out of the way from each other wasn't the easiest to do. We first started with moving the rear sway bar up on the chassis. To do that we needed to create a bolt on mount that would retain stiffness and rigidity for the sway bar mounting while positively locating everything. Once we accomplished how to move the sway bar up, we then needed to create different sway bar links to keep the sway bar from inverting at full suspension droop. Our rear sway bar links are made from 1-1/8" 7075 aluminum using 5/8" FK JMX joints with 303 stainless spacers.
After the sway bar was addressed we moved on to creating ridiculously beefy lower and middle radius rods. Both lower and middle radius rods are produced from 1.5" thick American Made 7075-T6 aluminum plate and house 3/4" FK WSSX uniballs with 303 stainless spacers. We gained a HUGE 3-1/8" of clearance(matching our front a arms), making them nearly even with the axle shaft through parts of the suspension arc. The lower also features a huge chamfer on the front lower face of the rod to help you slide over obstacles when you come in contact with them. The middle rods feature our single point adjuster that makes setting toe on the car a breeze with a 3/4" FK JMX joint. Spin the adjuster to lengthen or shorten the rod with ease, tighten the 2 pinch lamp bolts and you're all set with no jam nuts to break loose. We've been using this style of adjuster on the Pro R for a couple years as well as the X3 with great reliability. On the spindle, instead of reusing a tapered stud like the factory balljoint we utilized our patent pending setup for the middle radius rod by producing a billet double shear bracket with 14mm hardware making install and removal fast and easy. The upper radius rods are made from 1.25" solid round 7075 for strength easy adjustability using 3/4" FK JMX joints and 303 stainless spacers.
Why do we use 7075-T6 aluminum? This aircraft grade aluminum is the strongest aluminum option for our sport, twice the strength of 6061 aluminum. The weakest part of the rod will will always be the area that surrounds the uniballs, or where a joint is threaded in. The area that surrounds the uniballs is often severely limited to how much material we can have before it starts to interfere with the trailing arm, spindles, or other components, this is the biggest stress point of the radius rod as during bottom outs the lower rod has a tremendous pull force on it. On a threaded link we're limited to the material that is in the threads itself, we need maximum strength there to not pull the threads out of the rods, or compress the threads over time making the joints wobbly in the rod becoming loose. 7075 is also most known for its flexibility and its memory, with a direct impact it will deflect up to 10% and spring back to its original shape, the flexibility and memory of this material is why it's used as the main structure of aircraft wings. Furthermore all of these reasons are why this material is used as suspension "link material" for rock crawlers and rock bouncers as well as trailing arms and control arms on trophy trucks, almost never 6061.
Rods come standard in a black anodized finish, shown bare.
